Physiotherapy

An injury that keeps returning, stiffness that makes everyday movement harder or pain that has started changing the way you move can all be signs that something needs closer attention. Simone Vosloo Physiotherapy, based at Sunningdale Medical Centre, provides personalised, hands-on physiotherapy designed to help you understand what is contributing to the problem, restore movement and strength, and return to the activities that matter to you.

What Can Physiotherapy Help With?

Physiotherapy can support people dealing with a wide range of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic concerns. These include acute and chronic injuries, sports injuries, muscle, tendon and ligament injuries, neck and back pain, shoulder problems, joint pain and stiffness, and rehabilitation following surgery.

Treatment may also be suitable for headaches linked to neck dysfunction, hip and pelvic pain, knee injuries, ankle and foot problems, arthritis and age-related conditions, TMJ or jaw pain, postural concerns and BPPV, sometimes referred to as inner-ear crystals.

For active patients, physiotherapy can also play a role in injury prevention and return-to-sport rehabilitation.

Who Is This Service For?

Physiotherapy may be suitable if pain, stiffness, weakness or an injury is affecting how comfortably you move or take part in your usual activities.

It can also support recovery after surgery, help with long-standing musculoskeletal problems and assist people who want to rebuild strength, mobility, stability or confidence before returning to sport or everyday activity.

Every treatment plan is adapted to the individual rather than following the same programme for every patient.

What Happens At A First Session?

Your first appointment starts with a detailed assessment. Your physiotherapist will ask about your symptoms and medical history, look at your movement patterns and explore the factors that may be contributing to the problem.

The findings are then explained clearly, along with the proposed treatment approach, so you understand what may be causing the problem and what the next steps involve.

Treatment can begin from there and will depend on your individual condition, symptoms and goals.

What Treatment May Include

Treatment is selected according to your specific needs and may combine hands-on techniques, technology and active rehabilitation.

Hands-on physiotherapy and manual therapy techniques may be used to improve joint movement, reduce pain and restore more comfortable movement patterns. Myofascial and soft-tissue techniques can also be used to help reduce muscle tension and restrictions.

Depending on your condition, treatment may also include dry needling, MLS® laser therapy, shockwave therapy or TENS.

MLS® laser therapy may be used to support healing, reduce pain and inflammation, improve circulation and reduce swelling. Shockwave therapy may be considered for persistent tendon pain and other chronic soft-tissue concerns, while TENS uses gentle electrical stimulation to help manage pain and provide symptomatic relief.

Individualised Rehabilitation

Exercise-based rehabilitation is an important part of physiotherapy and is tailored to your condition and goals.

Your programme may focus on improving strength, mobility, stability, flexibility, balance, control and functional movement. For some patients, the focus may be on returning to sport or activity, while for others it may be about moving more comfortably during normal daily life.

Rehabilitation may also include strategies aimed at helping to reduce the likelihood of the same problem recurring.

What Can You Expect Over Time?

Your treatment plan will change as you improve rather than remaining fixed from the first appointment onwards.

The aim is not simply to reduce pain. Treatment is designed to help you restore movement and function, return to your normal activities with greater confidence and understand how to look after your body going forward.
